I am so happy to say that the fall issue of FRiGG has gone live today and features one of my stories. You can read "Ha ha bonk" here.
FRiGG is one of my favourite places so I was thrilled when Ellen Parker liked my piece. She asked me if I could expand it, and yes, actually I could. The narrator and her son are the characters from my novel in progress "Salted" and it was fun seeing them go off and breathe elsewhere.
This issue of FRiGG also features work from Z.Z. Boone, David Erlewine (is it just me or is that guy everywhere I look these days?), Jenny Halper, Martin Heaviside, Lyn Lifshin, George Moore, Simon Perchik, Kenneth Pobo, Ronnie K. Stephens, Bethan Townsend and Joseph R. Trombatore - read their good words here.

Congrats :-)
Congratulations, Sara. I love the different portrayals of laughter here, how it moves through creepy, sinister, humorous, cruel, and in the end bonding. That's a great opening scene on the bus, and again in the pub when our narrator is imagining sucking and biting Evan's fingers, and again at the school, the whole "palaver" over the biscuit :-) So well done.
Thank you Bob, I really am rather pleased.
Ethel - thank you so much for reading, and for your comments. Chuffed.
"worm eggs under grubby nails" - reminds me why I never purchase cakes from school stalls! Brilliant, I really enjoyed your story - haven't read one I haven't liked yet!
I know Rachel, eeew, right?
And what a lovely thing to say about my stories. Thank you.
Sara, wonderful work! Ha, Ethel really digs into what I love about your story. This one is right up there with your 3 AM piece in my book (and I LOVED/LOVE that story).
Thanks for the shout! I felt the need to comment since I'm everywhere! Now I'm in my basement listening to shitty music when I have to wake up for work in 4.5 hours. Yeah! D
Ha! I remember reading the first para here, or certainly the -erm- description of blokes sitting opposite - never forgotten, and think of you often now, on public transport.
nice one missis.

David thank you so much for the LOVE. Makes me feel warm n' fuzzy. Your story is great, my kids have speech difficulties so oh yes, it resonated.
Vanessa - Laughing at the idea of you thinking of me because of that! Crikey!
Nik - thank you very much.
: )
This is a VERY VERY good piece of work. Sara. You should be chuffed to polar bear pride. Frigg is a very difficult market to crack. It has a lovely opener and the tone is so wonderfully evocative...mischievous...it's all good!!
Ooh Julia you said it's VERY VERY good which has made me VERY VERY pleased!
